Instructional Courses are didactic training courses with a focus on teaching.

Each applicant may submit a maximum of 2 instructional course proposals.

Each application must indicate whether the chairperson/s, or any of the faculty members, has a financial interest in the subject matter or receives funds from any mentioned company.

You must indicate if your course is focused on a single company or product.

The course organiser is the “Chairperson” on the proposal submission form and will be the primary contact/s for all correspondence with the Office. We recommend that there are 2 chairpersons assigned per course.


All submitted courses will be reviewed before final selection is made with submissions ranked according to their average score.

The submission and review process applies to both new and repeat courses.

New courses will be judged solely on the quality of the proposal.

Repeat courses will also have previous evaluation results considered and the number of times the symposia has featured at other meetings will be taken into account.

Specific topics that need to be covered in the congress programme will be taken into account when making the final selection of accepted courses. The decision of the committee is final.

If your course is accepted, you will be informed of this by email by the end of March 2021.

Late cancellations and Instructional course presenters who fail to turn up or arrange replacement course speakers may not be permitted to present courses at future EURETINA Congresses.


All Instructional Courses should be 45 minutes in duration.

The goal of Instructional Courses is to provide participants with didactic information on specific subjects treated by experts in the field. It is, therefore, important and to leave a time lapse for questions and answers.

Format: The applicant can choose from different formats:

  1. Didactic presentations with scheduled Q&A managed by the course organiser.
  2. Case presentations/discussion between panellists with audience involvement.
  3. Hands-on skills transfer courses.

The title of the course should be explicit but not exceed 120 words.
Applicants are encouraged to submit a well delimited topic with practical implications. (For instance, ‘Advantages and drawbacks of various anti-VEGFs injection regimen in AMD’ rather than ‘Anti-VEGFs in AMD’)

Course Description: (no more than 200 words)
Provide a structured proposal describing the background, a precise outline and the objectives of the course. A succinct statement explaining the background of why this topic should be addressed at the annual meeting.

Course Objective(s): (no more than 200 words)
Defining the specific outcomes for the attendee and which completes the sentence “At the conclusion of this course the attendee will be able to…”

Course Schedule: (no more than 250 words)
Provide a running order for the course listing provisional speakers, proposed timings and/or presentation topics. Remember that all courses will be 90 minutes in duration.

It is recommended that the number of presenters should not exceed 5.

Individual presentations should be 5 minutes.

Total discussion time must be a minimum of 15 minutes and include live Q&A from audience. Panel discussions are encouraged.

All presenters are encouraged to stay throughout the duration of the course in order to interact with the panel and audience and answer any questions.

All chairpersons and speakers are required to provide their financial disclosure.
