Participants should have knowledge of cataract surgery. It is not necessary to have performed a vitrectomy before.
This course will cover the following:
• Introduction of the use of the machines and the BIOM by representatives of the company
• Instrumentation needed for vitreous surgery and Wetlab-rules
• Basic vitrectomy technique: Learning incisions and how to perform a core vitrectomy with
the help of Triamcinolone as a dye. Wound closure.

Participants should have some experience in vitreous surgery or have already participated in the beginner course.
This course will cover the following:
• Small incision sutureless vitrectomy (23 /25 g): Advantages and disadvantages
• Principles of macular surgery - Dyes used in membrane peeling
• Small incision training with 23gauge system
• Virtual reality training for macular pucker surgery and ILM removal

It is necessary for participants to have experience with 20 or 23gauge vitrectomy.
This course will cover the following:
• Management of complications during vitrectomy
• Tamponades - their properties and indications
• Vitrectomy of vitreous hemorrhage with an intraocular foreign body
• Fluid-gas and PFCL/silicone exchange principles

Technique will be shown with the use of microscopes.
During this course participants will be given an introduction to the pre-operative preparation of the patient,
proper draping and drug application. Also possible complications as well as the postoperative care will be presented.
