To evaluate macular edema changes in retinal vein occlusion (RVO) with dexamethasone implantation
S.B. Ulucanlar Education and Research Hospital,Ankara-Turkey
A total of 27 patient, 15 male and 12 female, with macular edema were evaluated. Nine (33.3%) patient had CRVO (Central RVO) and 18 (66.7%) had BRVO (Branch RVO). The mean age was 62.51 +/-9.7 years (min 46-max81).Macular edema and central macular thickness (CMT) changes were measured with same Optical coherence tomography (OCT). Each patient evaluated before implantation and one month interval in post implantation period.
The mean perimplantation CMT was 596.40 +/- 265.69 u (min 206, max 1176). The mean post implantation CMT was 359.96 +/-201.10 (min 159 max 848 u) in first month and 325.11 +/- 158.92 u (189 max 800u) two months after treatment.
: Dexamethasone implantation is an effective treatment method for maculer edema secondary to RVO.
