To evaluate the efficacy of dexamethasone intravitreal implant in Diabetic Macular Edema
EYE- Q PNK, Tertiary Eye Care Hospital, Lucknow, India
16 eyes of Diabetic Macular Edema with LOGMAR BCVA of ≥ 0.48 (6/18 Snellen equivalent) were treated with dexamethasone intravitreal implant under proper aseptic condition. Base line BCVA and OCT and post treatment OCT was performed on day30 while BCVA was asessed on day 90. 8 of the 16 eyes had h/o anti-VEGF treatment in the last 6 months.
All the eyes had a marked improvement of vision from their baseline. The baseline BCVA LOGMAR was 0.74 and the BCVA LOGMAR was 0.46 at 3 months. The OCT showed a marked reduction in macular edema from the baseline. The mean baseline edema was 517 μm which reduced to 303 μm at the end of 1 month (approx 41%reduction).
Dexamethasone intravitreal implant is an effective treatment option in the treatment of Diabetic Macular Edema which are treatment naïve or recurrent after treatment with anti-VEGF’s and other treatment strategies.
