To evaluate the efficacy on half-dose photodynamic therapy (PDT) targeting to leakage areas on fluorescein angiography for chronic central serous chorioretinopathy.
Retrospective, interventional case series.
Thirty-seven eyes of 34 patients with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy underwent half-dose PDT. Best corrected visual acuity, central macular thickness and resolution of subretinal fluid on optical coherence tomography (OCT) at 1 and 3 and 6 months were assessed.
Visual acuity increased 2 or more snellen line in 19 eyes (51%) , not to change in 14 eyes (38%) and to decrease in 4 eyes (11%) . Central macular thickness is significantly decreased (372 vs 220 micrometer; p<0.001). Subretinal fluid is completely absorbed in 27 eyes (73%).
Fluorescein angiography guided half-dose PDT is an effective treatment methods in chronic central serous chorioretinopathy.
