Exploration reveals high ESR and RCP, cardiological and. neurological study without alterations, but evidence of ulcerate ateromatous plates in both carotid arteries.
PET-TC showed glucidic hypermetabolism in multiple vessels, that is compatible with systemic vasculitis. With the arteriographic and PET-TC findings in medium and great vessels and high ESR and RCP, Takayasu's Arteritis is suspected, and treated with high doses of glucocorticoids
The ophthalmological manifestations are not usually present in the initial form of presentation of this entity, but they appear in 60 % of the cases during the follow-up, with a wide spectrum. The most frequent is hipotensive retinopathy.
