Abstract Details



Purpose:

Optos 200Tx is a new machine which allows for ultra-widefield fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) allowing investigation of peripheral retinal vasculature. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first published usage of Ultra-widefield (Optos) fluorescein angiography (FFA) in a patient with CMV retinitis.

Results:

67 year-old immunosuppressed diabetic man with lymphoma presented with aqueous-tap polymerase chain reaction (PCR) confirmed Right Eye (RE) cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis. Initial RE best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 6/9. Over 6 months, the CMV retinitis was successfully treated with intravitreal & systemic ganciclovir, but RE BCVA deteriorated to 6/60. Optos ultra-widefield FFA demonstrated a peripheral ischaemic vasculopathy. Argon laser pan-retinal photocoagulation (PRP) was done.

Conclusions:

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first published usage of Ultra-widefield (Optos) fluorescein angiography (FFA) in a patient with CMV retinitis.
