Although fluorescein angiography demonstrates a fine capillary network and a foveal avascular zone as a single sheet of network, anatomically, perifoveal capillary is composed of a few layers of network. We observed the enface image of macular capillary network using swept source OCT.

Based on the 3mm×3mm data cube captured by macular cube scan (512A-scan×256Bscan) in normal 10 eyes, en-face SS-OCT images, extracted at different depth between the ganglion cell layer (GCL) and the inner nuclear layer (INL), were observed.
En face image of SS-OCT visualized precapillary arterioles, venules and capillaries around the FAZ at the GCL level but only capillaries at inner and outer surface of INL. The capillary network around the FAZ was observed at different planes of inner and outer surface of INL respectively. The capillary at the outer layer was larger in diameter and more clearly visualized than that at the inner INL level.
