Posterior sub-Tenon's triamcinolone as first line therapy for persistent postoperative macular oedema after cataract surgery. Standard therapy with topical steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs often not effective.
Patients with postoperative macular oedema referred to the Vitreoretinal Unit at Worthing Hospital, Worthing, West Sussex, England, U.K.
Posterior sub-Tenons' triamcinolone injection given as first line therapy by Mr Leong and Mr Kon for these patients. Preoperative and postoperative visual acuities and OCT examinations.
Significant reduction in postoperative macular oedema with improved visual acuities and OCT results.
Posterior sub-Tenon's triamcinolone injection is an effective treatment for postoperative macular oedema.
