PEDs with CSR have been reported from all over the world. Relationship of PED in CSR can shed light on patho-physiology of the disease. Asia being the most prevalent region of CSR, data from this region becomes key to understand the disease physiology. To the best of our knowledge none of the study had described prevalence of PED in cases of CSR. Purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of this feature in an era of advanced diagnostics such as SD-OCT which is helping us to understand pathology of multiple retinal disease in a non invasive manner.
Lotus Eye Care Hospital and Institute, Coimbatore, TN, India
SD-OCT in 3 dimensional mode was performed at macular region and data analysis was performed using excel 2007 data analysis tool. .
140 eyes of 134 patients during year of 2010- 2013 were examined retrospectively. Prevalence of PED was 60.71% (85 of 140 eyes) with in neurosensory detachment (NSD) of CSR.
This finding suggests that PED is an important feature of CSR. There are 1/4th of patients who do not have PED. Pathogenesis and severity may vary in cases of CSR with PED and without PED. Further analysis of separate groups is required to find out key differences in both the groups in terms of prognosis and treatment.
