To describe the ICG findings in the fellow of patients being treated for polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy
Restructured hospital in Singapore
We retrospectively reviewed ICG angiograms of patients' diagnosed with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. We analysed the findings in the fellow asymptomatic eye.
There were 20 female and 37 males. 6 patients were Malay. The rest were Chinese. ICG was normal in the fellow eye in 23 patients. The rest had polyps in the fellow eye. 21 were extrafoveal in location, 6 were subfoveal in location, 4 had polpys beyond the temporal arcade and 3 patients had a combination of polyps within and beyond the arcade. 3 patients older than 69 years had drusen in both eyes in addition to polyps.
Majority of eyes (59.65%) had polyps in the fellow eye. Most of them were close to the fovea. Older patients in addition had dry age related macular degeneration. It is important to recognize polyps in the fellow eye and warn the patient of possibility of leakage in future in the other eye.
