Abstract Details

Purpose:

To describe a new surgical technique without the use of perfluorocarbon liquid to avoid rolled or slipped retina while using endoscope in fluid–air exchange.

Setting:

To rolled and slipped retina after fluid–air exchange.

Methods:

Tear was set lowest position of the retina by tilting head and eye. By observation of endoscope, subretinal fluid was completely drained and rolled and slipped retina was stretched out while using a flute needle with silicone tip just like sweeping with a broom. Perfluorocarbon liquid was not used during fluid-air exchange. Photocoagulation was done around tear.

Results:

Retina was reattached without rolled and slipped retina.

Conclusions:

Using endoscope in fluid–air exchange could avoid rolled and slipped retina without the use of perfluorocarbon liquid.
