Evaluation of anatomic and functional results after surgical intervention in patients with macular complications in optic disc pit .
Silesian Eye Treatment Centre Żory, Poland
10 eyes ( 4 males 5 females) were operated on because of retinoschisis and retinal detachment concomitant to optic disc pit.
Functional and anatomic success was achieved in every case. In two cases where surgery was made 4-5 months after "opening" of the optic disc pit needed second surgery because of macular hole formation. Resolving of retinoschisis took months.
Anatomic come back to normal view of the macula is a longlasting process and sometimes needs more surgeries than one in surgical treatment rapair of the optic disc pit complications.
