To determine if Annidis RHA MSI can easily detect RPE changes prior to the abnormality being easily detectable on clinical exam and on red-free or color photography.
A clinical private practice setting
Images of 88 eyes in which RPE was clinically judged to be minimally abnormal or within normal limits were imaged by MSI and compared with red-free and color images.
24 eyes were found to have abnormalities which were much more easily detected on MSI. Drusen and RPE changes were much more easily definable on the amber, red and infra-red wavelengths of the MSI
MSI's amber, red and infra-red wavelength can enhance detection and visualization of early RPE abnormalities and enable clinicians to commence early treatiment of high risk population with neutraceuticals and other alternate therapies.
