Abstract Details

Purpose:

Setting:

Bucharest Emergency Eye Hospital and Clinic

Methods:

A 13 years girl with total exudative retinal detachment due to advanced Coats disease was operated by 25 G vitrectomy, 360 retinotomy, pre- and subretinal membranes removal, perfluorocarbon liquid silicone oil exchange, endolaser. Multiples reoperations were needed due to proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

Results:

Finally a completely reattached retina was obtained, of course with very limited vision, but with a stable condition of the eye.

Conclusions:

Vitrectomy can be a good solution for the treatment of advanced Coats disease
