ILM peel in rhegmetogenous retinal detachment associated macular holes

Abstract Details



Purpose:

To evaluate anatomical and visual outcomes in patients with RD associated macular hole with PPV and ILM peeling

Setting:

Study is on going at Department of Ophtalmology, Post Graduate Medical Institute/Lahore General Hospital, Lahore from April 2013 to date.

Methods:

A total of 37 eyes underwent PPV, ILM peeling and internal tamponade of C3 F8 in patients with RD associated macular hole. Optical coherence tomography were performed pre operatively and post operatively

Results:

Macular hole closed and retina was flat in 35 (94.5%) eyes. In 02 (5.4%) eyes retina was attached but macular hole did not closed. Visual acuity improved in all 37 patients (mean 2.2 Snellen lines)

Conclusions:

PPV and ILM peeling has high success rate in closure of macular hole and visual acuity improvement in retinal detachment associated macular hole.
